Want To Add Some Colour To Your Kitchen?
Our kitchens are generally the heart of our homes but when it comes to the decor side of things, most of our kitchens are built with practicality and lack style. Take a shot of playing with colours and style as you would take a shot of coffee in the morning! Burst of colour can help give a good vibe in a room. I don’t mean go out and put splashes of colour everywhere. Colour can be found in your decor, cabinets, appliances, stools etc.
Bringing natural elements into your kitchen will warm up the coldness of your granite counter top. Using nature decor such as a succulent filled terrarium or a mini herb gardens will fill that empty space on your windowsill. But using a deep brown wooden bowl makes an attractive way to hide your keys away. While using tall freshly cut flowers will efficiently fill a bare corner.
Accessories! We all love them! If there are certain appliances you use daily, why not make them visually interesting? Also experiment with different colours for your accessories such as tea towels, dishes , appliances like toasters or blenders. Even go beyond and think of larger ones like your refrigerator or stove.
Perhaps look at your cabinetry and see what perks you can add. You can paint your cabinets your favourite colour or even think about drawing from a favourite vintage linen or tablecloth or dishes. If you want to go a little bit out there paint your cabinets one colour and contrast your walls to complement. If you aren’t feeling too bold start out with painting smaller areas around your cabinets as a contrasting colour.
The walls under your cupboards, splash back area or above your cabinets all give you a chance to try our different colours.
A great way to add colour is to use rugs, as it’s an easy way to change colours and designs when seasons and moods changes and also it isn’t a fixture. But if you hate the thought of changing rugs all the time choose accent coloured tiles for your flooring choice.
When it becomes time to think about the seating around the island or breakfast bench, go for bright bold colours such as red or neon yellow. Having a row of these bold seats will give your kitchen the feel of a Parisian cafe and it is an unexpected way to break up a monochromatic colour palette.
How are you going to add some some bold, fun colours into your kitchen?
