Choosing Artwork

Choosing Artwork

Do you find it hard to finding the right piece of artwork ?

Unless you are an art curator, gallery owner or artist chances are buying artwork doesn’t come naturally to you. A piece of art can enhance the look of almost any room. I have put together some pointers to help you achieve this.
Look Into Your Options
There is a brood scope of different sorts of artwork out there, so it helps if you do a little homework for making any big decisions. Take into consideration about the architecture of your home and the age of it. For example, If you live in a Victorian Terrace home with heritage features, you would consider something classic that is framed and also with glass for your walls. If you live in say a slick modern pad with white walls, go more large with hand painted canvases.
Be Confident
So often people make the error of buying artwork that is way too small for the wall they would like, and then hanging it way too high on the wall. If you have a large space on your wall on big and don’t be scared to let it make a statement. The right sized art will do what its meant to do by making an impact and filling the void. Where as the wrong size artwork will continue to draw unwanted attention to your black spaces around. It will be just out of proportion.
Choosing Artwork
Hanging Art
A good rule to remember when hanging artwork is to measure 150cm from the floor up the wall – Its the average persons eye level.  By marking this with a slight mark will ensure your art is hanging at the right point for ones eye.
Buy What You Like
Don’t go out of your way to buy expensive artwork.  Buy what you like and what you are drawn too. Let those art pieces be the ones you will continue to love twenty year from now.
Choosing Artwork
Complement Colours
If art is one of the last things on your gender, draw inspiration from colours already decorated in that room. For example you may have blue, greens or aqua tones in your rug and cushions, which than can translate into your colour palette for your artwork. This also works reversal.
Shadow Boxes
Adding boxes to your art will make a hug difference in the look of your artwork. Its unique design ensures that the frame doesn’t make direct contact contact with the canvas but will highlight your your piece of art.
