Our Stirling Story

“It was 2012. My husband (then fiancé) and I had recently returned from a nearly month-long trip to the USA. We were living in Noosa, but as a couple in our early twenties, found the property market around that area to be out of our budget, so we looked back to the town we grew up in for something more affordable – Gympie.
We weren’t originally looking to build a house, up until we found a recently-built house for sale, that sold before we could put an offer in. It had been built by a local building company, and as it hadn’t been lived in, we would have been eligible for the first home owner’s grant, and another grant available at the time, the Building Boost.
We started speaking to different builders around both Gympie and the Sunshine Coast (since that’s where we were based), and it all seemed really hard. Every builder seemed to have different inclusions, and as a first home buyer, it was a little daunting.
My parents had recently built a Stirling home, and encouraged us to go and see the sales staff about what we were after. We were hesitant at first, but I’m so happy we did. They were so understanding, and helped us customise one of their existing designs (see the standard Connecticut plan here) so it was more suitable for our lifestyle. They also put us in contact with a broker who helped us secure a loan for our very first home.
Another Stirling Homes difference we absolutely loved was the day with an interior designer to do our colour selection. We would have been lost without this! While we had an idea of what we were after, the interior design consultant really helped us make the vision we had come together. I think this is especially important for a first build, as it could have been quite daunting otherwise. My parents, who have built with other builders previously, also loved this difference with Stirling Homes.

As we weren’t living in Gympie for the first part of our build, access to our very own VIP website which was updated weekly with progress pictures and information was fantastic. Not only were the staff employed by Stirling Homes great with any questions we had, the sub-contractors we met on site to discuss items were so approachable. From plumbers and electricians to tilers and painters, everyone wanted  to make sure they were creating the reality of the vision that we had.

Our first home build experience with Stirling Homes Queensland was fantastic. So much so, that now that we have sold our first home and bought a new, larger block of land, we are planning on using Stirling Homes again to help us with our new dream.
